Fitbit has unveiled 3 new smart wearables in the country. There is the top-end Sense, accompanied by Versa 3 smartwatch, and Inspire 2 smart band. The headliner is of course the Fitbit Sense, which comes with a new ECG heart rate tracker, EDA (Electrodermal Activity) skin temp. sensor, and a built-in speaker amongst other things.
Let’s first see how that EDA sensor functions and what’s its benefit, followed by other features of the Sense as well as of the other two products.
Fitbit Sense: How the EDA scanner works
Living in this fast-paced world, we mostly fall oblivious to our stress levels. Well, the EDA sensor within Fitbit Sense will detect and inform you of the same. Here’s how it works:
- Fire up the EDA Scan app. Then, place your palm over the watch face and breathe normally. It will start detecting small electrical changes in the sweat level of your skin and accordingly give out a score ranging between 1-100. Besides the skin temperature, it also takes heart rate, sleep, and activity data into consideration.
- Further, you can keep a tab on how the body reacts to the built-in guided mindfulness sessions within the Fitbit app.
- Needless to say, the Fitbit app will keep stock of all your EDA measurement responses. You can have a look at this data to know your stress levels. There is even an EDA response graph that offers a comprehensible representation of your progress.

Fitbit claims the watch will run for at least six days on battery. And to refill it, you get a new snap-on magnetic fast charger. You can pick the Sense in carbon/graphite stainless steel and lunar white/soft gold stainless steel.
Alongside the Sense, Fitbit also announced its 3rd gen Versa smartwatch and Inspire 2 Smart band.
The Versa 3 brings onboard GPS, in-app workout intensity map, PurePulse 2.0 heart rate monitor, Active Zone Minutes, optimized Spotify integration, and a built-in speaker to pick calls straight from the wrist.
