Apple will hold an iPhone 12 event the week of October 12, with the device shipping a week later, according to up-and-coming leaker Jon Prosser. The iPhone 12 Pro would land the following month, he said.
Without citing a source (obviously), he tweeted his “new, adjusted Apple dates” Wednesday afternoon.
Prosser also laid out dates for the next Apple Watch and iPad releases. He said Apple will launch those devices via press release the week of September 7.

iPhone 12 is definitely delayed
We already knew that new iPhones would arrive later than usual this year. Apple said as much during its Q3 earnings call. “Last year we started selling new iPhones in late September,” said Apple CFO Luca Maestri. “This year, we project supply to be available a few weeks later.”
Today’s tweet from Prosser lends credence to previous rumors that Apple will pursue a two-phase launch for iPhones in 2020. The idea that a pair of “regular” iPhone 12 models will land first, followed by two iPhone Pro models, seemed fairly certain even before Prosser’s latest revelations.
Other tidbits pumped out by the rumor mill indicate the 2020 iPhones will come with a new, flat-edged design reminiscent of the iPhone 4 and recent iPad Pros.
The iPhone 12 Pro reportedly will pack a lidar scanner like the iPad Pro’s and improved video capabilities. And the larger iPhone 12 Pro model might be a real palm-stretcher. If early mockups prove accurate, it might boast a massive 6.7-inch screen, making it the biggest iPhone yet.
Who is Jon Prosser?
In case you’re not familiar with Prosser’s work, he runs the Front Page Tech YouTube channel. Or at least he did until it got hacked and taken offline last week. He launched a backup channel, FTP 404, after the attack by cryptocurrency scammers.
He made headlines in May with an extensive report on Apple Glass, Cupertino’s long-rumored headset project. Prosser’s sources proved uncannily accurate in the past. When he appeared as a guest on Cult of Mac’s podcast, he spoke of getting real-time updates from deep within Apple’s inner circle. (He most recently pegged the release date of new iMacs last week with a tweet that went out minutes before Apple’s press release.)
