Price went up because Huawei got so big and they had to change their business model and strategy because they wen’t global they started making tv ads and used celebrities to marketing their phones. Now Xiaomi is heading to same direction.

Big companies like Samsung, HTC, LG, Sony can’t do anything about and they also can’t follow the pricing of those chinese companies. Company need to make money to survive, period. With all those companies the problem is that they all sell more or less same product and chinese can make it cheaper because they don’t do global business and don’t do marketing much else than in online, don’t have big companies run and so on.
With this trend there will only be chinese android companies and Samsung hanging there. And then there’s Apple who is almost unaffected by this because they have iOS and their own ecosystem which no-one can copy and they will always find users for their OS.

LOL, u people never cease to amaze me in badmouthing Chinese smartphones.
If not for Xiaomi and other Chinese manufacturers, people would have still paid 350$ for SD4xx-powered smartphones!
You people are the reason why companies like Apple are getting away with their exorbitant pricing policy, because u people mind always stereotyped ‘Chinese phones = cheap = ads-invested = malware-rich junk’

Anonymous, 8 hours agoDoes Apple still have 4x the profits from sales compared to all android brands combined? iBoys don’t get this argument that if Apple is making the most profits by selling lesser volume it only badly reflecting their customer base of 15% globally!! Nothing to be proud of unless you are a stockholder!
Android customers never bother about which of their OEMs makes more money! For the business it may be relevant but for a One Year Technology that gets obsolete in few 2-3 years customers don’t bother much for investing $300 – $600 in the Android and yet they get the maximum value for their money, freedom to upgrade anytime without having to worry about blowing their wallets !!

Airpods and Apple pencil are expensive,but they are useful,so I think it is OK.But for Magsafe Duo,I will simply say no.

Xiaomi sits on Top5 in each region except NA,which they never offically enter in.
I do think Xiaomi will become No.2 next year,since the Trump ban still limit the Huawei and they sell the Honor brand ,which sell lots of phone in Chinese/Russian/SEA market.
Someone still think OPPO are under controlled of BBK group,that’s not ture.OPPO become individual since 2003.
You will never think Intel and AMD are belong to one company altough both of them are developed from Fairchild Semi,so does the relationship of OPPO and Vivo.

Huawei was on the track to overtake Samsung but they have been changing up their low end and medium end devices like the A series to stop it from happening too.
So i doubt it would have made much difference, plus Huawei was adding the Honor sales in with the Huawei sales too.

Okay, now what does feature phone shipments really mean? I just had to go back and see what Itel is putting out to try and understand this, a few months ago HMD put out a memo in which they claimed that their goal was to be among the top 5? (Top 5 of what? Am assuming that they meant phone makers.) How in the hell are they supposed to accomplish that when they barely put out any handsets? Are they going to wish their way to the top? And how is that going to work when they are behind Itel?

If anything the ban hurts Samsung because now they cant sell more displays, Ram or storage to Huawei. Thus losing money
