Brie Larson to star as frustrated scientist in Lessons in Chemistry on Apple TV+

Brie Larson, perhaps best know for her role in Captain Marvel, will reportedly take the lead in Lessons in Chemistry, a series about a frustrated scientist in the 1960s who’s forced to take a job on a cooking show.

Lessons in Chemistry is about science done outside a lab

Variety was leaked a description of the show.:

“Set in the early 1960s, Lessons in Chemistry follows Elizabeth Zott (Larson), whose dream of being a scientist is put on hold in a society deeming that women belong in the domestic sphere, not the professional one. When Elizabeth finds herself pregnant, alone and fired from her lab, she musters the ingenuity only a single mother has. She accepts a job as a host on a TV cooking show, and sets out to teach a nation of overlooked housewives – and the men who are suddenly listening – a lot more than recipes, all the while craving a return to her true love: science.”

Lessons in Chemistry will penned by Susannah Grant, who was nominated for an Oscar for writing Erin Brockovich.

The Larson series is based on a book of the same name, which is set to be published by Doubleday in the spring of 2022. When the Apple TV+ show will premier is not yet known.

Brie Larson already working with Apple TV+

This will appantly be Larson’s second project with Apple’s streaming video service. Back in 2019, it was announced that she’s starring in an upcoming series based on Life Undercover: Coming of Age in the CIA..

The actress is only 31, but is rapidly building a stellar resume. Captain Marvel brought in $1.1 billion, for example. And before that, she won an Oscar and Golden Globe in 2015 for her role in Room. Her other movie credits include Kong: Skull Island, The Spectacular Now, 21 Jump Street and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World.

Lessons in Chemistry is just one of many series in development for Apple TV+. This service costs costs $4.99 a month. andincludes over 50 series and films, either available now or coming soon. There are thrillers, crime dramas, comedies and documentaries.
