The global chip crisis keeps chugging along, and Apple has long been rumored to be affected in the production of its new devices. Case in point – the new iPad Pro 11 and 12.9 and the new iMac with M1 that the company announced at last week’s spring event are going up for pre-order later than new devices usually do after an Apple event.
And in a move that’s very uncharacteristic of it, Apple hasn’t actually revealed an official release date for any of these three products. Thankfully though, a British third-party retailer, John Lewis, has risen up to the occasion and given us the date we’ve been expecting.
As you can see from the screenshot above, the new iPad Pros (and the new iMac with M1) will become available on May 21. That’s a Friday, so it makes sense – Apple loves Friday launches. It’s quite far off from the pre-order start date of April 30, but as we said above, you can probably blame the global chip shortage for that. Likewise if you want a new iPad or iMac and can’t find one in stock for a while.
